William Hendry (1907 - 1966) = Sarah McCaffery (1911 - 1999) William Hendry was born on 5 Jan 1907 and registered as illegitimate as his parents didn’t marry until 28 Jan 1907. His birth was re-registered 38 years later to legitimise it. This was not an uncommon procedure for children born out of wedlock whose parents later married. William can be found living with his parents in the 1911 and 1921 censuses in Uddingston, Bothwell, Lanarkshire. He married Sarah McCaffery in 1936. William and Sarah Hendry had three children and their grand-daughter is a DNA connection to the author of this site. William died in 1966, aged 59 years. Sarah lived until she was 88 and died in 1999.
