Matthew Lamond Matthew Lamond or Lamont was possibly born in Riccarton in 1700, the son of Robert Lamount and an unnamed mother. Other than the date of baptism and the location near to Kilmarnock there is no further evidence to ‘prove’ this connection. On-line family trees suggest he was born in 1688 in Craigie, son of another Matthew Lamond, but there appears to be no evidence to confirm this either. I favour the first suggestion as this Matthew (b 1700) would have been nearer to his future wife both in age and geographical location. When married he was living in Wardlaw which is circled on the map below which shows the parishes of Craigie, Kilmarnock, Riccarton and Fenwick as they were in 1839.
