Alfred Seabrook died on 1 Jul 1914, aged 48/49, at 34 Wood St, Chelmsford. Five years later, on 6 Aug 1919, the widowed Elizabeth Seabrook, aged 49, married John William Ottley, aged 44. In 1921 John Ottley was living with his wife Elizabeth and her three youngest children Alfred Sidney Seabrook (aged 13), Richard Bertram Seabrook (aged 11) and Arthur Noel Seabrook (aged 8) at 27 Wood St, Chelmsford. Seven elder children from Elizabeth’s first marriage were living ‘over the road’ at 34 Wood St, where the Seabrook family had been living 10 years previously. At number 27 living with John and Elizabeth Ottley there was another younger son, John Cornish Ottley (aged 4y 3m) who was described as John’s son. His mother, rather strangely was described as ‘dead’. John William Ottley died, aged 62, in Chelmsford on 13 Jan 1937. Seven years later, Elizabeth Ottley died, aged 73, at home in Bruce Grove, Chelmsford.
