Mary and William Hendry had four children between 1859 and 1876, Mary, William, Jeanie (Jane) and John. John was born in 1876 when William Hendry (father) was 67 years of age. William died three years later in East Shaw St of chronic bronchitis.. If I have the right William Hendry then he was a man who had two registered wives and a ‘relationship’ which spanned perhaps 1850 to 1853. All three women were called Mary and all were younger than he was. In his first marriage, he was 25 and Mary Ann Smith was 17. If he had a relationship with Mary Mathieson he would have been 41 while she was 20. When he married Mary Drysdale he was 48 and she was 20.
