Marion Lamont (b 1759 - )
Marion Lamont was the third of nine children born to John Lamont and Mary Findlay. She was born and baptised in Kilmarnock.
As we move into the mid 19th Century documentation becomes increasingly reliable and comprehensive. We can be confident therefore that Marion
Irvine (1803 - 1883), who is a key figure in the Bruce story,
was a daughter of John Irvine and Marion Lamond(t). Confirmation comes from
Marion Irvine’s Death Registration. John Irvine was stated to be a cotton weaver.
Note : The spellings Lamond and Lamont appear in the records and Irvine is often recorded as Irvin, Irving and sometimes Irwin. I have tried to stick to
the spellings as recorded on documents in this website.
The story of Marion Lamond is outlined on the following pages.
