A Joseph Wood (38) appears in the 1861 Census married to an Elizabeth (b Austonley). Elizabeth Woodcock (24, spinster, residence Greenowles) married Joseph Wood (29, woollen weaver, residence Hoowood, father John Wood, woollen weaver) on 4 Oct 1851 in the parish of Holme Bridge (Almondbury). Witness : Abraham Wood I think these two facts are sufficient to confirm that this is Giles Wood’s nephew and that Giles had a brother called John. Searching for John Wood, a brother of Giles and son of James and Betty Wood lead to the discovery of two christenings.
